DSC WS4985 Product Description:
The DSC WS4985 is a one-way wireless flood detector intended for use with compatible DSC security systems. The WS4985 flood detector senses the presence of water in basements, laundry rooms, bathrooms, kitchen and numerous other areas where water may leak or flood, prompting advance warning of potential flooding.
Multiple WS4985 flood detectors can be enrolled on and supervised by the same security panel up to the maximum number of zones supported by that panel. The WS4985 flood detector consists of a water sensor and a wireless transmitter that are connected by a 1.82 m (6 ft) wire cable. This device continuously monitors for unacceptable water levels. If water is detected (e.g. when both probes are in contact with the water) the WS4985 wirelessly communicates this alarm condition to the control panel receiver.
Damage in a home or business due to flooding is one of the top claims to insurance companies. Not only can water completely destroy precious mementos but it can also wreak havoc with structural items such as floors, walls and electrical systems. Flood damage issues are expensive to fix and can increase future insurance rates. Early detection can easily save on insurance claims and reduce the hassle of costly repairs.
The transmitter is installed at a higher level on the wall with the probe located at floor level or a desired height. In the event that there is a water leak, the probe will detect the moisture and deliver the information to the transmitter on the wall. It is important to note that although the probe is sensitive, it has been designed to be immune to false triggers such as floor mopping, because the sensor head is recessed into the probe's housing.
If the WS4985 is ever damaged or tampered with (perhaps if the wire between the transmitter and the probe is cut), its trouble status will immediately signal the Alexor or DSC 1-way wireless receivers and the device will instantly notify the alarm system. The detector also communicates low battery issues.
