What is Medical Alert Monitoring?
Medical life alert monitoring, also known as personal emergency response systems (PERS), are devices that help individuals to call for help in case of a medical emergency. These devices usually consist of an alert button worn by the individual, typically as a necklace or bracelet, and a base unit that is connected to a monitoring center with trained operators available 24/7.
When the alert button is pressed, it sends a signal to the base unit, which then alerts the GeoArm monitoring center to send emergency services if necessary. This technology is particularly helpful for seniors or individuals with existing medical conditions who may live alone or be at risk of falling or experiencing a medical emergency.
General Steps for PERS Monitoring:
Step 1.
A medical pendant is triggered and is transmitted to the GeoArm 24/7 central monitoring station.
Step 2.
The GeoArm operator then goes through the documented call list (or if applicable the two-way voice device itself) and calls the user to verify if the medical alarm requires response.
Step 3.
If medical signal is either confirmed valid, or if the end user is unreachable when the operator attempts to contact them, then dispatching procedures will occur.
